Five lunches

On NewTeeVee Jackson West reports on the do-it-yourself media scene out in La-La-Land, lunching daily during the past week with some interesting people. In his Monday piece he sees online video moving mainstream.

Talent will still be a requirement, but not the only requirement. The money behind the scenes will predominantly be controlled by men, and the people in front of the camera will probably tend towards thin and blonde. C’est la vie.

Now I've never had anything against thin and blonde. In fact many of my own projects in the past have involved talent definitely deemed 'thin and blonde'... and also expensive. And expensive is not conform with my current DiyLbM thinking (do-it-yourself low-budget media).

But it seems that help is at hand. Virtual Belle is her name. The interesting thing about the users of this category of 3D modelling software (Daz3D or Poser) are in fact do-it-yourselfers, hobbyists ranging from teenagers in Switzerland to housewives in Montana. I've been viewing stuff on Renderosity for about a year and kind of wishing I had time to learn how to use it...
