The Triolet (‘triplet’), is a French verse form, the earliest written examples dating back to the late 13th century. It is a poem consisting of a stanza of eight lines including two rhymes and two refrains. One refrain is the repetition of the first line at the fourth line and the seventh line. This triple appearance of one line gives the Triolet its name.
