Getting into the habit of daily posting is surprisingly easy. But my very few readers have to understand that daily means five days a week only (Fridays and Saturday excluded). The reason for this is meteorological - today's high is forecast at 27 degrees Centigrade and tonight's low will be 17. There are a few compensations for being a Sandlander, albeit limited to the months of delightfully mild winter.
Oh dear, that reads like a 'dear diary' entry! As I continue to question the purpose of this blog I am in two minds. Yes, as stated yesterday, I want to pass on selected items I have trawled from among the postings of others. And, yes, I shall indulge in opinionated comment, deluding myself perhaps that my views are as significant as those of Jeff Jarvis (to be found via the link to BuzzMachine at the left) or of Mark Cuban (when he's not on the subject of basketball).
At the same time I accept that blogging is self-revelatory. This I think is permissible if the writing is tolerably literate and insightful. So I think that my positioning is somewhere between Jeff Jarvis and the wonderful Petite Anglaise whose life in Paris is an open book (indeed, one which is destined for publication).

Hmm, I think there's another indulgence I'll be permitting myself; not a single post will lack visuals. And as my confidence grows, my mastery of the skills increases there will certainly be a leap into audio and video. In fact I would be podcasting already if I could figure out the 'de-esser' settings to eliminate the sibillance which makes listening to my audio files an excruciating experience, as Adam Curry was kind enough to point out!
Simple skills are still defeating me. A reader claims to have sent me two 'messages', which probably means she's used the Comments facility. But when I look for new comments to be moderated there's nothing there. If nobody throws back a comment at this page I'll have to go to an internet café and send one to myself! How pathetic is that?
That was the week that was, my first as a regular blogger. How sad that the English language lacks an equivalent of the wonderful German word Selbstinszenierung.
