Confirmed francophile that I am, I do hope the latest international satellite news channel, France 24, gets added to our E-Vision cable service in the UAE. It would be nice to have an alternative to TV5.
The word is that France 24 will be on local cable in New York City and Washington DC. But I doubt that the rest of the country will want news supplied by cheese-eating surrender monkeys any more than they want Al Jazeera English.
Although there is hope; Rocketboom's Joanne Conan reported from the opening of the French channel. This gave her a chance to show off her very serviceable French (although for the very first time I also heard a hint of North of England when she was being 'interrogated' in a highly bizarre fashion at the end of her report...).
