yo Saturnalia!

Free associating contextually - you may be aware of my continuing duties at the Abu Dhabi International Motorshow - you might conclude that the red car is one I've found amidst the prevailing horsepower hubris. But no. I haven't found any Pontiacs on display.

But nomen est omen, as usual, and this model is called the Solstice. And since today is the 21st of December we may celebrate Sol Invictus as the longest night once again passes and darkness retreats a few minutes every day for the next semester. It may be the pagan in me, but I have always found the solstices and equinoxes fascinating and sometimes fateful. More pregnant with potential than mere Christmas or New Year celebrations. Once, to celebrate the winter solstice, I got married! This is not a practice I intend to repeat though.

This day has, however, already delivered a hint of something highly significant, possibly another quantum leap in the acceleration of a project which will occupy me greatly in 2007. Right through the summer...

I'm reminded of another venture I undertook many years ago, launched on the day of the summer solstice.

Ra was, of course, the Sun God of the ancient Egyptians. But in fact the logo identified a creative community formed under the banner of les Réalisateurs Associés. Our 'production offices' were properly branded, too!
