Puzzlement

Rhyme and reason there must be, although it's hard for me to make it out.

I still have yet to receive over a hundred visitors, although I suppose it should be some comfort to learn via Google Analytics that 52% are repeating readers and 37% come directly to the blog.

Or is that comforting?

I know not. Not can I fathom how it is that when I Google just the search term 'sandlander', out I pop at the top of the list!

Now I am by no means the only person who uses the denomination 'sandlander' to designate an ex-patriate resident of this region - indeed I think I borrowed the expression from the excellent SecretDubai. So how do I arrive in the Olymp of Googledom?

And how on earth am I to take the news revealed by NewTeeVee (link in my blogroll): Andrew Michael Baron, sometimes overly open about his personal business, posted an interesting disclosure on his blog this morning: his raw revenue numbers. Rocketboom brought in $247,412 in 2006, Baron reports, with $210,000 of that in advertising and the rest primarily consulting and merchandising.

And, of course,
the link to the Rocketboom site is the first returned by Google - Drew and I have that in common. Oh well, I can't expect to have his hundreds of thousands of readers or quarter of a million dollars without an Amanda or Joanne to front for me...
