The Venice Project 3

Om Malik on New TeeVee (link to it from my blogroll at the left) has the tech expertise to ask Fredrik de Wahl the right questions about the Venice Project.

There is some reassurance on the 'bandwith hogging' front, which is probably good news. And I understand much better the notion that, thanks to the wonders of Mozilla, there is huge scope for widget development to enhance and broaden the user experience.

We all want our shows looking great and H.264 promises that. But my doubts from the point of view of those of us who are content owners and creators remain. Even if the technology is the product of Europe's finest, we have to accept that the Yanks usually knock us flat in the content arena.
