Just a screencap, of course, but what a beautifully composed shot. For me the high point of the 14th of July parade on the Champs-Elysées was always the march past of the Foreign Legion with their unique cadence and spine-tingling music. Although my politics are left of centre and more anti-war than pro bellum I confess to a weakness for militaria aesthetics.
I am reminded by this photo (again thanks to Eric of ParisDailyPhoto) that I recorded footage of a Bastille Day parade a few years back with some extraordinary musical performances form an alphorn ensemble. (Yes, my musical tastes are diverse as the next post will substantiate.) I'll try to find thetime to upload it to Brightcove so that I can get and embed for this blog.
