Veoh, Miro and the Long Tail

The New York Times has an article worth reading about Veoh here.

...the company raised about $26 million this summer from investors, including Time Warner; Goldman Sachs; Spark Capital, a venture capital firm in Boston; and the former Disney chairman Michael D. Eisner, who joined the Veoh board and counsels Mr. Shapiro, a 38-year-old, Russian-born engineer. The company introduced VeohTV as a beta product last month, making it available for testing to a group of invited users.

I'm testing. I'm liking. Their delivery of PromQueen was a high quality experience.

Meanwhile Liz Gannes at NewTeeVee (link in my Blogroll) advises that today sees the launch of Miro, a potential Veoh challenger. It was formerly known as the Democracy Player and was developed by th open-source advocates, the Participatory Culture Foundation.

And rounding our the topic of content delivery for today there's a Bear Stearns study covering the Long Tail aspect of monetizing web video.
