It's a fact that I have spent more than half of my quite long life beyond the borders of the United Kingdom and, indeed, 80% of my almost three-score and ten far from the land of my birth.
It's also a fact that my years in the Sandlands have meant accepting comprehensive surveillance as one of the instruments of a formidable security apparatus which, in the context of the troubled Gulf, I do not find lacking in justification.
But, to come back to the UK, is there really a justification for radio spots like the one embedded below? Isn't it likely to promote paranoia? Is it, perhaps, intended to do so?
