The turning of the sun

In Germany it's called Sonnenwende, the turning of the sun. I still find the winter solstice a dates of importance, allowing myself to be as comforted, as most tend to be on New Year's Day, by a feeling of renewal, of inception.

Of course years and years ago I decided that the 22nd of December, with the hours of sunlight thereafter becoming more every day, was propitious for a wedding.

Ah, the follies of (relative) youth!
