Is Wolfram Alpha destined to be an amusing confabulator? I do from time Google my name and also my Sandlander identity. The latter has the advantage of being a made-up name and is therefore often featured quite high in the listings. Recently, however, a Hungarian firm specializing in tuning of four-by-fours has adopted the name and there's also a football team in Ghana!
Be that as it may, I decided to run 'Sandlander' through the new high-brow search engine Wolfram Alpha. The screenshot shows the result! The 'input interpretation' was geographical. I found it amusing to learn that Sand, Bavaria, is just over an hour's drive north from Munich.
I'm not sure if knowing that Lander, Wisconsin, is 8,156 kilometres distant makes me a better person, though!

Hmm. WAlpha has been massively hyped, and suggested as a Google-killer. I don't think it's in any way comparable to Google, and so far I haven't found a use for it.
Side point, yesterday I Googled 'Madrid empadronomiento' (because we need to change our registration details with the Madrid Municipality), and my blog article on the subject came up number one!
