Soaring ambitions

I am not completely convinced that the official opening of Burj Dubai is something to celebrate. A columnist in The Times makes much of the fact that the construction of the world's tallest buildings has often coincided with the
end of a period of economic stability, starting with the Empire State Building.

Well, the tower opening, possibly even the iconic edifice itself, will always remind me of the day on which a 'period of (relative) economic stability' certainly ends for me, since today my German client has filed for protection under the insolvency regulation!

2010 threatens to be a most interesting year.
