Message in a bottle

There's this guy, elderly, something of a loner. On many days he demonstrates a compulsive trait which strikes me as eccentric. He composes little messages, augments them with perhaps a snapshot or a cutting. Then he seals each missive in a bottle, makes his way to the shoreline when the tide is on its way out and flings his bottles into the waves.

The chance that his message in a bottle reaches
any recipient is infinitesimal.

The likelihood of any response is even lower. As a form of communication the message in a bottle must be one of the least efficient ever imagined.

And yet, over the years, the guy persists in this futile and bizarre behaviour.

But, hey, he has that daily bottle-bearing stroll down to the beach, which is surely a fitness benefit!

The same cannot be said for bloggers!

At least you don't have to trot down to the coast every day!
