Labor Day

In my decades of living a European reality my recall of Labor Day is hazy. For me la Rentrée is the term which tells me that it's time to wrap up the summer thoughts (this summer in Munich featuring the wettest August since records have been maintained) and face our return to serious things. Serious things including first lectures and tutorials for the young miss shown above!

However, Labor Day in Dallas, Texas... Now that was a city where temperatures tend to be high, even through the month of September. And thus it was understandable that the ladies tended to prefer remaining bare legged. But, no! Custom dictated that after Labor Day the proper womenfolk of America should wear hose, as they so quaintly put it. Stockings, even with temperatures in the thirties, were mandatory.
