The parade I didn't see yesterday. The photo from my office window I took in 2006. (Note that back then there was no beach yet reclaimed from the lagoon and the cafes which are my Friday hang-outs were still on the drawing board!)
In 2006 there were bands, troops on camels and all kinds of folklorist fun... stuff I appreciate much more than this year's full-bore auto-corso hooning with admittedly spectacularly decorated autos.

Okay, there was last night on the Abu Dhabi Corniche (as MacNabb reports from Sharjah here) no lack of festive atmosphere.
But, frankly, I missed the camels and the bagpipes!
