Weekend Video 2

"At the directive of H.H. Sheikh Hazzaa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, GearOne has begun its official broadcasting as the Middle East's first satellite television channel that focuses on automobiles, the car industry and all the sectors related to it, directly or indirectly."

That was six years ago. Transmissions commenced to coincide with the 2005 Dubai Motor Show.

And to coincide with the 2011 edition of the Dubai Motor Show the automotive channel Motorvision TV will launch on the Orbit Showtime Network (OSN) according to a recent news release on the BroadcastProjects website.

Ironic, really.

If the GearOne channel had functioned the way it was meant to... the way I planned it back in 2005 at the behest of my employer and indeed by Sheikh Hazza... this 'special interest' niche would have been so well served that Motorvision may well have been without a chance of getting carriage in the Sandands after six years.

Now the audience in the Emirates will, however,  be hearing my English language voice tracks which I recorded here in Munich for many, many hours of Motorvision's programming. This was content originally produced in German and shown on the channel which is carried on the Sky Germany platform.

Ah yes... thoughts of what might have been...
