"Here comes the sun!" This Marks & Spencer ode to Englishness is, I find, almost cloyingly cheesy but it may well preview the kind of clumsy, embarrassed patriotism which this Olympic year may well call forth on the island.
Another pretext for posting this... the sun came back to Munich yesterday, with temperatures suddenly in the mid-twenties, green leaves finally on what were too long bare branches and... that ritual act ushering in a kinder season... the sun-shades have been installed once again above the outside tables at Café Schwabing.
