Mardi gras, was it?

In the Schwabing neighbourhood of Munich we do not have any square or road intersection as iconic as the one shown above. But yesterday we did get a good amount of fresh snow, about ten centimetres and enough to make everything very pretty. 

There were a few brave revellers trying to pretend that the carnival atmosphere of the Rhineland could be replicated in Bavaria, given enough outlandish costuming and an excessive consumption of alcohol.

However here there is adherence in these staunchly Catholic parts to the Ash Wednesday tradition of dining on fish, so I am looking forward to something tasty on the menu for a final dinner before Jessi leaves Munich again and returns to the University of Maastricht for her final semester.

It seems only yesterday that we were sending her off for her Freshman year...
