I never attended the festival at Glastonbury. In fact, my only visit to a memorable concert was back in 1969, Stones in the Park.
This morning as usual I listened to the Today program on BBC Radio 4. My favourite presenter, John Humphrys decided to see what Glasonbury was all about and finally declared himself "Blown away" by the unique atmosphere of the event. The high point of his reportage was a conversation... not really what could be called an interview... with Mick Jagger. Now both of these gentlemen will soon achieve their three-score-years and ten. And, yes, this post is intended to remind that those of us who have reached this age are so incredibly fortunate to have lived the decades which were ours. The audio of their chat is here and a transcript here.
The Today show played out as the edition ended with music... a far from common way of ending the program before the nine o'clock pips. The song was titled... fittingly, I felt... In The Long Run.

Well I will be doing the Stones In The Park all over again in a few days - only 44 years and 8 days between shows!
