Here is the obituary printed by the New York Times. Johnny Casablancas was one of the key people in my Paris years. He was both friend and client and I have previously blogged the story behind the logo for his firm, Elite Model Management, the design seen on the headsheet in the top right corner of the photo above.
The logo was, I admit, a rip-off of that of a French car rental company, Citer. And the first sketch played with little subtlety on Johnny's well established reputation as a ladies' man. But in modified form it has certainly stood the test of time and is still in use today.
How lucky I have been to know so many people who one way or the other stand out from the crowd.
