Happy Birthday

It was around a week ago when I saw on a magazine stand the latest issue of Elle Magazine, an anniversary issue celebrating the twenty-five years of the German edition's existence.

Only logical, I thought, to do a Photoshop mod of the magazine's striking cover... Jessi's photo instead of that of the model and a strap line of my own.

I re-cycled a thirty-by-forty frame and wrapped it up as a gift. It's not exactly a lavish present for a twenty-fifth birthday but given the circumstances more was not possible this year.

No need to remind my regular readers of my deep affection for and immense gratitude to my daughter.  The light of my life is a gross understatement!

What pleases as much as anything else is the fact that Jessi has such a huge circle of really close friends. Those in Munich will this evening be downing large quantities of pro secco. Messages from those further afield crowd the inbox of her social network sites. 

What good fortune she has is well illustrated by the photo below.

The little girl I am feeding in the 1990 snapshot is still in 2013 Jessi's best friend. Her birthday greeting came in the form of an iPhone video from Bali, where she is on holiday.

I knew even then that I was an extraordinarily  lucky Auld Da.
