Another anniversary

Yesterday was another wedding anniversary. Thirty-one years ago we found ourselves suddenly in Munich, after being perfectly happy in Paris. We re-located when she received a job offer she couldn't refuse in Munich, but then the firm downsized brutally and so the final quarter of 1982 was suddenly very grim indeed. It seemed like a defiantly optimistic gesture to marry.

For a very low-profile wedding we picked the day after the solstice, the day when all would subsequently look brighter and more hopeful.

Thirty-one years later I can happily report that although we have not been husband and wife for many a year, we remain good friends.

And this is something which all three of us regard as a very positive outcome.
