Café Schwabing

When summer comes it will not be the same... no long evenings at an outside table under the big parasols, watching the pretty girls go by at the busy corner in my neighbourhood.

Peter and Gabriele Freund, the couple managing the establishment have confirmed to the Abendzeitung newspaper: "Yes, Café Schwabing will close on the 15th of. April... after twenty-five years."


It is promised that a renovated Café Schwabing will open under new management in the autumn. And the newspaper maintains that it will not... as rumoured... be a McDonalds branch.


I suppose that's a relief of sorts. But I will be nevertheless at something of a loss this summer.
