I have just been listening to a BBC report about the controversy concerning elderly drivers. The idea is that holders of driving licenses should be obliged to pass a further test not when aged seventy but eighty. I heard how traumatic it can be for old people to be forced to give up driving. I heard of a grandmother who complained that the 'damn garage is getting narrower' when explaining the scratches on the side of the car.
How lucky I am that I have never felt the need to take the wheel of an automobile! One is most grateful for small mercies.
[I do have sympathy for the dog!]
