Fantasmagoria

The Associated Press photographer Darko Bandic captures in this amazing shot made using a drone the enormity of the exodus, the cruel absurdity of the increasingly wintry reality in the western Balkans. 

The image reminded me instantly of this landscape painting by Franco Fontana. Of the artist Francesco Guccini says:

"Fontana, with his brilliant simplicity gives space by suggesting to enable us to fill in with our own memories from our times, with all our own fantasmagoria as everyone of us makes."
