Although it is not true that the Coca-Cola company invented Santa Claus with the illustrations for their advertisng from the 1930s, there is no doubt that the festival is fair game for commercial enterprises.
This came to mind when the doorbell rang this morning. The courier had an Amazon package for me, deliverd with admirable punctuality. But what struck me was something I found amusingly telling. On my floor there are three flats. And the courier (a young hipster who bore no resemblance to Father Christmas at all) had Amazon deliveries for both of my neighbours as well as for tenants on the floor below.
