It becomes very difficult to continue writing a contemporary story of intrigue involving the European Union and dire doings in Brussels. I feel obliged to make some significant changes to avoid any accusation of ghoulish opportunism. Not that any of my narratives have a high 'body count'... I'm squeamish by nature, so much so that I'm starting to avoid news broadcasts.
Maybe I should revert to writing historical fiction, a genre rarely affected by the impact of 'breaking news' and big profoundly disturbing headlines.
