Bitte geht nicht!

Today the glorious martial pageantry of the Trooping of the Colour celebrated the ninetieth birthday of the British monarch who, but for a couple of episodes of horrendous misunderstanding in the century past, could be styled as belonging to the house of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.

This week's issueof the leading German news magazine Der Spiegel makes a bi-lingual plea for Britain to remain part of the European Union. The intervention comes at a time when the Brexit camp claims to enjoy a lead in manyof the polls, which is horrendously alarming for any of us who have long been practicing Europeans.
Der Spiegel...
"It's rare to see historic moments coming, because it's impossible to know how history will change and what course it will run. But sometimes you do see it. Sometimes you know something is about to happen that has the potential to change our world. If Britain is clever, it will remain a member of the EU, because it will recognise that the future of the west is at stake."
