Ben SIlverman

US network NBC has confirmed that it has appointed Ben Silverman, the driving force behind Ugly Betty and the US version of The Office, as co-chairman of NBC Entertainment and NBC Universal Television Studio.

Mr Silverman runs independent producer Reveille, which makes Ugly Betty and The Office: an American Workplace.

His appointment to the key entertainment programming role was confirmed by the NBC chief executive, Jeff Zucker, and ends days of speculation about his move to NBC.

I think I may have raved about how impressed I was after attending a conference session he lead at the MipCom 2006 event in Cannes. He is certainly one of the few who have enjoyed success in Television 1.0 but with the promise of Media 2.0 guiding his every decision.
