I must admit that I have not always been a fan of Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim. About five years ago he made some remarks blaming the degradation of juvenile behaviour in the Sandlands on the SMS-supported television music channels, which was a slightly scary moment given that at the time I had just completed my assignment to launch MusicPlus on NileSat, a channel generating massive messaging traffic and generating corresponding revenues. However Tamim is now adamant the the SZR rowdies need to be dealt with (presumably not by banning jukebox channels) and there are his measured words in the following piece...
Dubai’s police chief has admitted that the Emirate made' mistakes' during its boom years, and acknowledged that the Western press was 'legitimate' in some of its criticism of Dubai during the financial crisis.
“We might have been carried away in our expansion plans, and there were mistakes,” Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim told Arabian Business in an interview.
“However, it is an experience to learn the consequences of overconfidence on the part of some officials and companies.”

But then you'll find that Dahi will not change himself, but he will expect others to change around him.
He's always willing to talk about mistakes in areas in which he has no business or authority, but God forbid that you should criticise his police force.
Someone should collect a book of "Dahi-isms" - memorable (stupid?) comments made by this man over the past years.
Unfortunately, it would be banned in the only country where it may become popular!
