When I was only eight...
In June 1948 Columbia launched the 33rpm Long Playing gramophone record and the era of high-fidelity.
My music-loving Pa started saving his pennies.
A few years later he was able to buy a radiogram... Now isn't that a lovely archaic term? Think, children, of an iPod the size of a baby's coffin... on second thoughts, forget it!
One of the best things about LP records was the covers featuring graphic artwork which will be long remembered. And the cardboard sleeves were sturdy, providing the perfect flat surface on which one could roll... on second thoughts, forget that too!
