Visceral pings

Jeff Jarvis predicts that any one of the new iPhone 4 commercials are inclined to 'elicit a visceral ping'... As one who can get misty eyed after seeing a heartstrings-twanging yoghurt spot I must agree.

Jarvis also says...

Now, of course, the video call only brings them closer together than a plain old telephone call could have... or an email or an SMS or (does anybody send them anymore?) a letter. That’s what makes Facetime so miraculous: it is finally almost like being there. They can almost touch.

Does one have to be really old to see this development as yet another science-fiction dream of yesteryear becoming reality?.
