Now regular readers know of my fondness for mid-century design. But I have always seen the strict modernism as allowing incursions of exuberance, in the form of single ethnic, antiquarian or fantasy 'conversation pieces'. I think the Cappellini chair fits perfectly into the latter category!

One of these chairs is in the window of the showroom at the corner where I turn to walk along the Corniche to the office. Stumbling across it on the interweb I was informed that this touch of brio costs $ 13,000. 

Not on my list, then.  But what fun!
