Never mind the decibels

I sought an explanation for the infernal racket emanating from the usually tranquil lagoon behind me. 

The explanation is the UIM Class 1 World Powerboat Championship. These craft hit top speeds of an incredible 250 kilometres an hour. 

I think I'll take a break and watch from the balcony the first race which starts in a couple of hours.
