How are we supposed to explain to our children and grand-children that parliamentary democracy is a system of governance which should be an example for nations still under autocratic rule?
How can it be that the sad exhibitionism of a candidate for the position of mayor of New York City is seen as a greater scandal that the greed of legislators unashamed of being caught with their snouts deep in the donations trough? But also... how can protest be taken seriously when its symbols are commodified, as is the case of these Guy Fawkes masks in Beirut Virgin Megastore?
