Parsimony is defined as the extreme unwillingness to spend money. That's quite simple, Okham would have approved.
The Sandlander's solution for economical living is worth repeating...
"If you can't eat it, drink it, smoke it or read it... don't buy it!"
To a great extent this works just fine. But the curse of the free-lancer with no regular client is the sight of a bank account dwindling to single figures and the prospect of a wallet with no more folding money. The term finite is suddenly very comprehensible. Parsimony means planning to the extent that tomorrow's expenditure is calculated to the very last euro.
And then the phone rings... a quick-turnaround job, paid without delay! Okay, not enough to cover the overdue rent but... food, drinks, smokes and e-books to get through to the New Year.
On the same day...oh, irony... a first Earnings Statement from Kindle Direct Publishing. EUR 3.58 will appear on my account in the very near future! I wonder who bought the other copy of my book from Amazon!
