On 30 September 1967 the  Home Service was renamed BBC Radio 4.

It seems like only yesterday.





Edward James Victoria Nicholas was just a bit more one year old. Segeant Pepper's band was playing. We had the feeling that the future might be an interesting place... we no longer needed the paternalism that the reassuring term 'Home Service' evoked. Were we foolish?
